• My first "glamour" photo of a firearm. Hahaha. The background to this photo is that on a firearms forum someone asked people to put up pictures of their first handgun purchase. I pulled out the first handgun I bought, nearly two decades ago, a SIG Sauer P226 (on the left in the photo). I bought it when Denise and I were dating, and I saved for a long time to get it, carrying a photo from a magazine clipping of an ad for it as motivation to save. Hehe. Anyways, I realized that I hadn't taken any photos in a while, so instead of a snapshot I decided to take a more artistic shot.
• I know gun photos aren't for everyone, but I thought I'd share it since I liked how it came out.
• A little background on the SIG Sauer P226 (old-left and new-right). Schweizerische Industrie Gesellshaft (I'm butchering the spelling) was a Swiss company that invented the gun, but due to Swiss firearms exportations laws, they couldn't sell it outside their country. So they partnered up with a German hunting rifle company, JP Sauer und Sohn, to build the pistols in Germany. In the nearly 30 years the pistol has been around, it has become standard issue to the leading counter-terrorist teams around the world, and is widely considered the best handgun made. Among the organizations who use the SIG P226 are the USN SEALS, British SAS, FBI, etc.
• My old pistol was made in Germany, and the newer one was made in the US.
